So since we were a bit behind our cutting schedule, we didn’t let the robot to have any weekend: of course, mr. robot broke down when we need it the most… Hopefully, it’ll get fixed soon!

Right now I’m sitting at Machineous watching ChiaHwa, Ben and Andreas running the robot cutting each brick. This is how the cutting process goes:
Now that the entire assembly team is going to start constructing on Monday, having 11nites and 12days left for us until the opening day!!!!!, Josh, Nick and Kevin started jumping into how these bricks are going to get built. After they sorted out all the bricks by wall and assembly order, of course, like any other phases in architecture, or rather life in general, they encountered some issues.
1. Because the robot cannot cut all the way through each cut line unless the cut is completed with one circle on, they have to figure out where to jigsaw out the trimmed out surface on each brick.
2. There seem to be a discrepancy between the 3D model and where the actual cut happened for some odd reason: we speculate that’s from the programming/cutting process, which I don’t really understand.
Early yesterday morning, as the first batch of cut blob bricks were awaiting at the almost- cleared gallery space, there was a meeting with three people from assembly team, Adam + Andi from the office, a few of folks from program/cut team and myself before the actual construction happens. I previously had met up with Josh on thurs., who is in charge of the assembly team, to be the bridge between the 3d model and actual bricks with the master assembly order sheet that I created for him. Since all the naming system would be a bit daunting for the assembly team, new numbering system for assembly team will come in, simply numbering each of them in order whereas before it was for example, 226wab_11: 226-brick color, w-wall, a-wall side, + 11-brick number on the wall.

Since a lot has been happening this past week or so, and I’ve been super busy w/ this blob business, the update has been a bit delayed, apology everybody! Now you have LOTS to get filled in.
First batch has arrived at sci-Arc gallery from Machineous past Thursday nite. Another uHaul truck was on the road, Ben driving this time, we had 5 boxes of cut bricks that were ready for the assembly team to jump in. This entire week, Adam and Andi have been coming into the pc-lab and helping the programming team speed up the pace for sure and much much thanks to them!
