GREG LYNN: oh the Creator!!!
In 2001, Time Magazine named Greg Lynn one of 100 of the most innovative people in the world for the 21st Century. In 2005, Forbes Magazine named him one of the ten most influential living architects. Greg Lynn has been at the cutting edge of design in both architecture and design culture in general when it comes to the use of the computer. The buildings, projects, publications, teachings and writings associated with his office have been influential in the acceptance and use of advanced technology for design and fabrication.
Lynn has received awards from the AIA, Progressive Architecture and the American Academy of Arts & Letters, and has been recognized for “shap[ing] the public realm” by the National Building Museum in Washington for his Korean Presbyterian Church of New York, which is also listed by the NYC Landmarks Commission. His work is in the permanent collection of CCA, SFMoMa and MoMA (which also houses his industrial design work), and also been exhibited at the Pompidou, Beyeler, Cooper Hewitt, MAK, MoCA, NAi, Carnegie, ICA and Secession museums, among others. He represented the United States in the American Pavilion of the 2000 Venice Architecture Biennale.
His many teaching positions in the United States and Europe include ETHZ, the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and Yale. His numerous publications includeTime, Newsweek, New Yorker, New Republic, Popular Science, Art in America, Architectural Digest, Dwell, Monument, Index, Architectural Record, Blueprint andArchitecture. He is the author of seven books and monographs, including Animate Form, considered the seminal book on the use of digital technology in architecture.
